Love the white slipcovered sofa against the pretty wall color (Benjamin Moore's Caribbean Mist) with the pops of vibrant color! You can tour the entire Dewey Beach, Delaware home <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/magazine/in-dewey-beach-del-a-familys-beach-retreat/2012/06/20/gJQA2IusuV_gallery.html#item0" target="_blank">here</a>! <br /><br />This post was a short one, we're both going to take the rest of the day off to celebrate Wesley turning one! We had a (very colorful) party over the weekend...I'll share some pics below! Still have to take his monthly "chair" photo today, so I'll share that later. As for the much-anticipated smash cake, we didn't get very far before he had a meltdown. After my <a href="http://www.houseofturquoise.com/2014/07/turquoise-tour-of-seabrook-washington.html" target="_blank">first post</a> about Seabrook, Washington, I got an email from someone saying "You showed my house in your tour!". What made me even more excited though was I'd actually been <i>inside</i> her house too, she didn't even know it! My friend's mom (the mother-of-the-bride) rented out her home, <a href="http://www.seabrookcottagerentals.com/vacation-rental-home.asp?PageDataID=75071" target="_blank">Coastal Haven</a>, and let me tell you guys, it was one of those places you just didn't want to leave. Susan (who happens to have a blog too called <a href="http://www.theconfidentmom.com/" target="_blank">The Confident Mom</a>) and her husband Don live outside of Seattle, but own the cute coastal home as a getaway for their family (and rent it out when they aren't there). <br /><br />First off: Location. The location of this home is awesome...it has a view of the ocean, is right next to a park, right down the street from the town center, and a few minutes walk to the beach. You can't beat that! I know my friend's mom loved her time there, especially sitting out on the balcony enjoying the view! <br /><br />When I walked inside the home I immediately fell hard for the paint color and thought it might be Sea Salt (it was!). Susan told me she loves the light colors and open feel to the home. Even though it's relatively small, it feels much larger and open. Too add to the that feeling, they had a lot things built in–like the tv and seating bench...definitely keeps it from feeling cluttered!<br /><br />The home was decorated on a limited budget, so Susan stuck to shopping at places like Pier 1, World Market and Ikea, while splurging on a couple of Pottery Barn pieces. (If you want to know the source for something, just ask, but I'll share the paint colors and select sources below.) I was excited to learn that she found inspiration online, even selecting her exterior colors based on one of my <a href="http://www.houseofturquoise.com/2011/06/day-one-dream-home-tour.html" target="_blank">favorite homes</a> I've blogged about! My husband Chris started working on the space over a year ago, but once Wesley was born the project got pushed to the backburner. He recently had time to finish it up and I'm thrilled with how it turned out! I didn't realize what a handyman Chris was...and I don't think he did either! He ripped everything out, installed the gorgeous new floor tile, trim, toilet, sink, mirror, light fixture and everything else except the wallpaper! <i> </i><br /><br /><i>The Wallpaper!</i> My absolute favorite thing about the room. It's "Bimini Ikat" from <a href="http://www.thibautdesign.com/collection/high_res.php?patternID=1335&productID=8263" target="_blank">Thibaut</a> and it's stunning in person. The rest of our walls are all white on the first floor, so it's just fun to walk in and have this big surprise! And oooh with the peonies in there, it smells so good right now! (Chris has a green thumb too...really I couldn't get any luckier!)<br /><br />The fixtures are all from the Asbury collection at <a href="http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/category/products.jsp?link=Asbury&categoryId=cat1556036" target="_blank">Restoration Hardware</a> and were quite a splurge...although we waited until a sale so at least we got a deal. After we saw them in person at the store we fell in love with the delicate detailing and quality and couldn't find anything else we loved nearly as much! That's what happened when we got to our condo <a href="http://www.sandpipervacationrentals.com/Unit/Details/66341" target="_blank">"A Sight to Sea"</a> in <a href="http://www.seasidefl.com/" target="_blank">Seaside, Florida</a>! I found it on <a href="http://www.vrbo.com/433475" target="_blank">VRBO</a> and had seen photos and reviews, but was still blown away. It was absolutely adorable, so bright and cheery....and <i>huge</i>!! These photos really don't do the size justice. It was two floors, the master bedroom with huge vaulted ceilings, views of the ocean, a private breezeway that led to a second bedroom...with an outdoor jacuzzi! And there was a washer and dryer! (Super awesome when traveling with a 3 month-old!) We also loved the bathroom–hello steam shower! Then there was a full kitchen, totally stocked with everything we needed, another half bath, and a beautiful balcony overlooking Seaside's famous Central Square. And talk about the perfect location...right across from the beach, right next door and above restaurants and shops. It really was the perfect home away from home for our little family! And since we went during off-season, we got a great deal too!
